Formula Ford 1600
Since 1967 the Formula Ford category has been thrilling spectators and drivers alike with a simple formula for non-aero open wheel racing on all-weather tyres.
Throughout the years various engines have been used as the control power plant, often seeing multiple Formula Ford categories exist simultaniously in the same country.
In Australia in 2006 the Ford Duratec 1600cc engine was introduced for National competiton, and the vehicles powered by the Ford Kent 1600cc engine became known as Formula Ford 1600.
Today FF1600 is Queensland's chosen rule set for State Championship racing, while Ford Motor Company couldn't overlook global demand and placed the Kent engine block back into production to service the international fleet of race cars that use them.
