Invited Cars

There are a number of categories and individually constructed vehicles in contemporary times that are very similar to or are compatible with Sports Sedans. So that people are able to race their vehicles in a local competiton without allways needing to travel, in Queensland there is the Sports Sedans & Invited Cars Championship. As the name implies, this championship is for Sports Sedans plus all of those other compatible vehicles.

The Invitation is extended by the event promoter, and once on the grid the Invited Cars score championship points along with and against their Sports Sedans counterparts.

In order to achieve consistency throughout the year, we source a Standing Invitation from the promoters at the start of the season. These are the current Standing Invitations:

Morgan Park Raceway - Standing Invitation (2026)

- Queensland Raceway - Standing Invitation (2026)

Thank you to Morgan Park Raceway and Queensland Raceway.

If a vehicle doesn't fit the Group 3D Sports Sedans regulations, and isn't a 5th Category Historic Sports Sedan or Heritage Touring Car prepared to the contemporary safety standards, and it also doesn't fit one of the following "Standing Invitation" descriptions, it may still be specially invited case-by-case.

Custom Invitation

While the Standing Invitations make life streamlined for most people, it doesn't remove the core regulations that allow for any Invited Car to be considered. If you have a vehicle that needs to be invited in, but doesn't fit any of the above Standing Invitation descriptions, then for that things fall back to the default of sourcing an invitation from each event promoter round-by-round. Feel free to contact the QRDA to discuss the technical specification of your vehicle if you have concerns about eligibility.
